Music, Philosophy-Related
I am a member of the philosophy band The 21st Century Monads, whose person-parts are Kris McDaniel (The Mereological Bastard), Ben Bradley (The Lazy Monad) and myself (The Pre-Established Harmony). We write and sing geeky songs about philosophy and philosophizing.
Recently we released a love song for the a priori, a song warning about the philosophical traps laid by W.V. Quine, and a song musing on what it takes for two people to compose a further object. We maintain a Facebook fanpage to keep fans up to date.
You can see a video of a live solo performance of the a priori song, if that thought makes you happy.
Or you can buy Monads merchandise. (We don't make a profit from this.)
The 21st Century Monads are indeterminately identical to The (Original) Monads (Kris McDaniel and Shawn Larsen-Bright). I've made some remixes of Original Monads songs. My favourite of these is Descartes. I've also covered their song Modus Tollens.
Another recent project is a mashup of snippets from a talk I gave in St Andrews on merely verbal disputes, with beats made in Beatmaker for the iPhone and other samples, bits and pieces. It's called Verbal.
Music, Non-Philosophy-Related
I once wrote an arrangement of the Tetris music to pass the time. Only slightly less frivolously, I sometimes like to write settings of the fools' songs from Shakespeare plays. Here's an O Mistress Mine.
I use a Yamaha Clavinova CVP in many of my musical endeavours, and I mix with Mixcraft and GarageBand.
